Brick and Mortar vs. Online Bookstores
Have you noticed? The battle continues to rage on...
I don't know about you, but I remember the days before the internet. And, once it arrived on the scene, with people being introduced to what "www" meant and grabbing their own web address, e-commerce quickly appeared on the scene! In that twilight period just before it really caught on, there was a point in time where you could only imagine what it would be like to sit down at your desk, go shopping, and have your package delivered to your door. My, how the world has changed since that time. Shopping online has become an integral part of all societies around the world. What would we do without it?
And along with it came the BIG question...is it best to shop at brick and mortar stores, or shop online? But, I ask you, does there really need to be a 'best'?
We are funny creatures, always comparing and judging what and who the winner of 'best' should be, as though settling this question has a life and death outcome. Important decisions are always a part of our everyday life, such as should be we eat out, or stay home and cook dinner? Should we work for a boss, or work for ourselves? Should I dress up or dress down? Should I sleep in, or not? With each new decision, we discover that the beauty in life is really about having multiple choices and knowing that all options can be equally amazing.
So, here's our most pressing question right here; right now. Ready? Should I visit my local bookstore, or should I shop online for my favorite book? Should I buy new, or should I buy used?
Let's see.....
- With one, we may go visit just for the experience; the other, to save money.
- One is excellent feeding our emotional life; the other might appeal to our practical side.
- One we go to for new books; the other, for used.
At this point in my life, I'm excited to be even closer to the online experience as I'm in a position to be of service to you, and be challenged to create for you a place where you find quality used books and other media, plus enjoy it emotionally knowing it supports a family owned business, with people who love books, loves their customers, and handles both with care. Books are living, breathing, expressions of their authors and truly are to be celebrated, no matter where you purchase or obtain them. ♥
